Fasco Double Shaft Motor 1/6 HP 1550 RPM D338

The Fasco D338 is a 1/6 horsepower, 1550 RPM double shaft motor for evaporative cooler, ventilation, and dual-drive fan applications.

Motors in evaporative cooling service operate in one of the more demanding environments in air moving equipment. The motor sits adjacent to or within a cabinet containing continuously wetted media, in an airstream carrying high humidity and often mineral-laden mist from the water circulation. Corrosion of the frame, shaft, and mounting hardware is the normal outcome over time, and it is often what ends the motor's life rather than electrical failure.

Practical consequences for a replacement include checking the mounting hardware and bracket for corrosion, cleaning mineral deposits from the shaft before fitting pulleys, and confirming that the cooler's water distribution is not spraying directly onto the motor.

Seasonal maintenance on evaporative coolers, including draining and cleaning at the end of the season, extends motor life considerably.

Confirm horsepower, RPM, voltage, rotation, frame diameter, both shaft diameters and lengths, overall length, and mounting arrangement before ordering, and inspect the drive pulleys and belt while the motor is out.
