DiversiTech Aluminum Tubing Vinyl Tube 3/8"ID X 1

The DiversiTech 7-38 is a length of clear vinyl tubing with a 3/8 inch internal diameter, used for condensate drainage and general low pressure fluid transfer.

Clear flexible tubing is used on condensate work because it is inexpensive, easy to route around obstructions, and transparent, which allows flow and blockage to be seen directly. Being able to observe whether water is moving through a line is genuinely useful when diagnosing a drainage complaint.

Its limitations should be understood alongside its convenience. Flexible tubing kinks readily where it turns tightly, and a kink in a gravity drain stops flow completely. It also sags between supports, and a sag holds standing water where biological growth establishes. Adequate support at close intervals, and generous radii at bends, address both.

Vinyl tubing degrades with ultraviolet exposure and hardens with age, so runs exposed to sunlight should be protected or specified in a suitable material.

It is not appropriate for pressurised service, for hot liquids beyond its rating, or for gas.

Where the tubing serves a condensate pump discharge, the size must follow the pump manufacturer's specification, since a smaller bore increases friction and reduces the flow the pump can deliver against a given lift.

Confirm internal diameter, wall thickness, temperature rating, and length against the application. Support the run adequately and maintain continuous fall on gravity drains.
