Description
The Alemite ALM317850-1 is a grease gun whip hose assembly built for hydraulic fitting service, in a 1/8" size, 12" long, constructed in thermoplastic and rated to a 4,800 PSI working pressure. It is specified for use with coupler number 308730.
A whip hose is the flexible section between a rigid grease gun outlet and the coupler. Its purpose is articulation. A gun with a rigid extension has to be presented to a fitting at the angle the fitting dictates, which is frequently an angle the surrounding machinery does not allow. A whip hose lets the operator hold the gun where there is room and put the coupler where the fitting is — and it absorbs the movement so the connection is not being levered off the fitting while the operator pumps.
Thermoplastic construction gives the hose the flexibility that makes it useful, along with resistance to the greases and oils it carries.
At 12" the length is short enough to stay controllable and long enough to reach around an obstruction. The 4,800 PSI working pressure rating is the hose's limit and should be read against the coupler and gun in the assembly — the lowest-rated component sets the ceiling for the whole setup.
Applications include fleet and vehicle servicing, agricultural and construction equipment, and industrial machinery lubrication.
