The Yellow Jacket 19047 is a gasket remover tool used to clear old gasket material from sealing surfaces.

Gasket removal is tedious work that is frequently rushed, and rushing it causes the replacement gasket to leak.

A gasket seals by conforming to both mating surfaces under compression. Where fragments of the old gasket remain bonded to the face, the new gasket cannot seat evenly. It bridges over the residue, leaving gaps either side, and the joint leaks from the moment it is assembled.
