The Yellow Jacket 63331 is an alloy deluxe ratcheting hand tube bender for forming bends in copper and soft metal tubing.

Ratcheting benders apply force progressively through repeated short strokes rather than requiring a single sustained pull, which changes what the tool can do in practice.

The advantage is leverage in a confined space. Forming a bend with a lever type bender requires room to swing the handles through the full arc of the bend, and that room is frequently unavailable when working in a cabinet, against a wall, or on tubing already partly installed.

A ratchet mechanism advances the bend in increments, so the handles need only a small arc of movement, and the bend can be formed where a conventional bender could not be operated at all.

The gradual application of force also gives better control. A bend formed slowly is easier to stop at the intended angle, and overbending is a common error since correcting it means bending the tube back, which work hardens it and risks cracking.

Marking the tube and setting the bend position accurately before starting avoids that.
