Product Highlights
Description
The Williams SNP3832-73 is a Bahco carbide-tip holesaw, 2-7/8 inch, industrial pack.
Note the brand split, consistent across the Bahco items in this range: the brand field reads Williams while the description reads Bahco. Both are Snap-on brands. Standardise it, or half the range disappears from a brand filter.
Carbide tips are the specification and they change what a hole saw can cut.
A bi-metal hole saw has high speed steel teeth. Those work in wood, plastic, and mild steel, and they give up on anything harder — abrasive materials round them off in one hole. Cement board, fibre cement, plaster with aggregate, stainless steel, cast iron, and abrasive composites all destroy HSS teeth quickly, and the operator watches an expensive saw become useless partway through a cut.
Carbide is harder and holds its edge at temperatures that would anneal steel. That means it survives abrasive material and it cuts stainless where a bi-metal saw would work-harden the material and stop.
The trade is brittleness. Carbide chips where steel would bend, so a carbide saw wants steady pressure and no hammering, and it is less forgiving of a saw that jumps.
The industrial pack is bulk packaging for trade use.
Applications include abrasive materials, stainless, and cement board.
