Uniweld Welding Kit KC100P

The Uniweld KC100P is a welding and brazing torch kit supplied without cylinders.

A torch outfit consists of matched components, and the matching matters.

The handle accepts specific tips, the regulators suit specific gases and cylinder connections, and the hoses are sized and rated for the equipment. Mixing components between manufacturers or between systems can produce connections that appear to fit while not being designed to work together.

Hoses are colour coded by convention, with green or black for oxygen and red for fuel gas, and they carry different thread directions at the connections to prevent cross connection. That keying is a safety feature.

Hose condition is worth checking regularly, since hoses are the component most exposed to damage. Abrasion from being dragged, kinking, crushing, and contamination all shorten their life, and a hose failure under pressure releases gas rapidly.

Flashback arrestors and check valves protect against flame travelling back from the torch into the hoses and regulators, which can cause a hose or regulator to rupture. They should be fitted and should be tested or replaced according to the manufacturer's guidance.

Confirm the kit's components are matched and suit the gases and cylinders to be used, inspect hoses and connections before each use, ensure flashback protection is fitted, and leak test all connections with soap solution before lighting.
