SharkBite SBCU518LFA 3/4 In. Push-to-Connect Brass End Push Cap

The SharkBite SBCU518LFA is a 3/4 inch push-to-connect brass end push cap.

A push-to-connect cap does one job and it is worth understanding why the job matters: it terminates a line, permanently or temporarily, without heat.

That is the whole proposition of push-fit. Capping a copper line conventionally means draining it completely, drying it, and soldering — and a line that will not dry is a line that will not solder, because water in the pipe carries heat away and the joint never reaches temperature. Anyone who has tried to solder a wet line has spent an afternoon on it.

A push-fit cap goes on wet, in a confined space, in a wall, with no flame. It grips with a stainless steel toothed ring and seals with an O-ring, and it holds pressure immediately.

That makes it the standard tool for isolating a branch during a renovation, terminating an abandoned line, or capping something under pressure that needs to stop leaking now.

The requirement that is not optional: the pipe must be cut square and deburred, and marked to depth. A burr cuts the O-ring, and an under-inserted fitting seals against nothing.

Verify the fitting is approved for the application and the pipe material before installing.

Applications include repair, renovation, and line termination.
