The Owens Corning 670734 is a fiberglass duct wrap insulation roll, 2 inches thick by 48 inches wide by 75 feet long, with a foil facing.

The 2 inch thickness is the most commonly specified duct wrap for residential work, meeting typical energy code requirements for supply and return duct in unconditioned space while remaining manageable to install around duct in the confined conditions of an attic or crawl space. The 75 foot roll length covers more duct per roll than the thicker product, which reduces the number of joints in the wrap and speeds installation on long trunk runs.

Installation quality determines delivered performance far more than the nominal R-value. Three errors account for most of the shortfall found in the field: compressing the blanket by pulling it tight or over-tensioning straps, which reduces the effective thickness and the R-value proportionally; leaving gaps at joints, hangers, and fittings, which create thermal bridges and, in cooling applications, cold spots where condensation forms; and failing to seal the facing laps, which allows moist air to reach the cold duct surface.

The facing is the vapour retarder, and its continuity is what prevents condensation on duct carrying cooling supply air through a humid unconditioned space.

Applications include residential and light commercial sheet metal supply and return duct in attics, crawl spaces, garages, and unconditioned mechanical rooms.
