The Fasco A200 is a shaded pole draft inducer motor with a round outlet blower housing, operating on 115 volts, used in gas fired furnaces and heating appliances.

Draft inducer assemblies establish combustion airflow through the heat exchanger and vent before the burner is permitted to light. The pressure switch monitors that airflow, and the ignition sequence proceeds only when the switch proves the inducer is producing adequate draft. This interlock is a safety function, ensuring combustion products are being drawn out of the appliance rather than spilling into the building.

An inducer that has weakened, or a blower wheel that has accumulated soot and debris, produces less draft than the pressure switch requires. The result is a furnace that runs the inducer, fails to prove the switch, and locks out without lighting. The complaint reaching the service desk is usually no heat with the unit apparently trying to start.

Because the pressure switch is monitoring the airflow the inducer produces, a partially blocked vent, a restricted condensate drain on condensing appliances, or a dirty wheel will produce the same symptom as a failed motor. Confirming the actual cause before replacing the motor saves an unnecessary part.

Verify voltage, blower wheel size and rotation, outlet configuration, and mounting arrangement against the appliance before ordering. Follow the manufacturer's sequence of operation when commissioning, and confirm the pressure switch proves reliably on a cold start.
