ESP Universal Air Switch NS2-0000-03

The ESP NS2-0000-03 is a universal air switch for heating equipment, supplied as a replacement for original equipment pressure sensing switches.

Pressure switches in gas fired equipment perform a proving function: they confirm that the induced draft blower has established airflow through the heat exchanger and vent before allowing ignition. The switch senses the pressure differential the blower creates, and its contacts close only when that differential is present.

Because it is a proving device, its behaviour under fault conditions is deliberately restrictive. Anything that prevents the blower from developing its normal pressure, a blocked or restricted vent, a disconnected or cracked sensing hose, a plugged condensate trap on a condensing appliance, a partially obstructed heat exchanger, or a failing blower, will leave the switch open and the equipment locked out.

This is why a pressure switch fault so often turns out not to be the switch. Before replacing one, verify the blower runs at speed, check the sensing hose for cracks and for water, confirm the vent is clear along its full length and correctly terminated, and on condensing equipment clear the condensate trap and drain.

Universal switches must be matched on setpoint, switch action, and connection configuration to the original.
