The DrainIV IV-BAG-CON-1 is a bag connector component for a drain line treatment system, used to deliver cleaning solution into condensate drain lines.

Bag based delivery systems apply the principle used in medical infusion to condensate maintenance. A reservoir of treatment solution is connected to the drain line and feeds gradually under gravity, allowing sustained contact between the solution and the biofilm rather than a single flush that passes through in seconds.

Contact time is the reason this approach works on lines that resist other methods. Biofilm adheres to the pipe wall and is not dislodged by a brief flush, and a treatment that passes through quickly has little opportunity to act on it. A slow feed keeps solution in contact with the growth for an extended period.

The alternative approaches each have limitations. Compressed nitrogen or air blows an obstruction clear but does nothing about the film that will reform. Vacuuming the line from the termination removes bulk debris but not adherent growth. Mechanical clearing is effective but requires access at both ends.

Slow feed treatment complements rather than replaces these, and it is particularly useful on lines that block repeatedly.

Confirm compatibility with the drain line and the treatment solution in use. Verify the line drains freely after treatment, check the trap and cleanout arrangement, and test the overflow safety switch.
