DiversiTech Run Capacitor 440V 80MFD PRCF80A

The DiversiTech PRCF80A is an 80 microfarad, 440 volt round run capacitor for large single-phase compressor duty in air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.

Run capacitors are among the most sensible items to carry as truck stock. They are inexpensive relative to the labour cost of a return visit, they fail more often than any other electrical component in a condensing unit, and the failure occurs disproportionately during the hottest weather when scheduling a second call is hardest.

A practical stocking approach is to carry the common single values across the range from around 5 to 80 microfarad, all at 440 volts, together with the most frequently encountered dual combinations. Standardising on 440 volt units allows a single capacitor to serve applications originally specified at either 370 or 440 volts, which halves the number of part numbers carried.

Eighty microfarad covers the upper end of single-phase compressor run duty, generally five ton equipment.

Confirm capacitance, voltage rating, case dimensions, and terminal arrangement before ordering. Discharge before handling, mount with a correctly sized strap, and verify that quick-connect terminals grip firmly rather than sliding on without resistance.
