DiversiTech Run Capacitor 440V 15MFD POCF15A

The DiversiTech POCF15A is a 15 microfarad, 440 volt oval run capacitor for permanent split capacitor and capacitor start capacitor run motors in HVAC and refrigeration equipment.

A run capacitor stays permanently in circuit while the motor operates. It creates the phase displacement between the start and run windings that produces a rotating magnetic field in a single-phase motor, and it continues to improve power factor and running torque throughout operation. This is a different duty from a start capacitor, which is switched out of circuit once the motor reaches speed, and the two are not interchangeable in either direction.

At 15 microfarad, this capacitor suits condenser fan motors and smaller indoor blower motors. Capacitance must match the motor's specification; a lower value reduces torque and raises current, while a higher value produces excessive current in the auxiliary winding. Either condition shortens motor life.

The oval case is the standard form factor for the majority of HVAC replacement applications and mounts with a strap or bracket.

The 440 volt rating is the applied voltage the capacitor is designed to withstand, not the supply voltage of the equipment. A 440 volt capacitor may be substituted for a 370 volt unit of the same capacitance, but the reverse is not acceptable.
