DiversiTech Run Capacitor 440V 80/5MFD PRCFD805A

The DiversiTech PRCFD805A is a round dual run capacitor rated 80 plus 5 microfarad at 440 volts for large single-phase compressor and condenser fan motor duty.

An 80 microfarad compressor section is at the practical upper limit of single-phase run capacitor values in comfort cooling, and the resulting case is physically larger than the mid-range capacitors that fill most of a service van. Before ordering, confirm that the electrical compartment has the height and depth to accept it and that the existing mounting strap will close around the case diameter.

Clearance matters in more than one direction. The capacitor must not contact the compartment cover when it is refitted, its terminals must stand clear of the cabinet wall, and it must not sit against the compressor discharge line or restrict airflow through the compartment.

Where space is genuinely inadequate for a dual capacitor of this size, two separate single capacitors of the corresponding values may be mounted in the available space and wired to reproduce the HERM, FAN, and common connections.

The 80 microfarad section serves the compressor and the 5 microfarad section serves the condenser fan motor.
