DiversiTech Run Capacitor 440V 7.5M PRCF7.5A

The DiversiTech PRCF7.5A is a 7.5 microfarad, 440 volt round run capacitor for small single-phase motors in HVAC and refrigeration equipment.

Low capacitance values in this range are used with small condenser fan motors, small blower motors, and fractional horsepower fan motors in refrigeration equipment, walk-in coolers, and ductless systems. The physical size of the capacitor is correspondingly small, which suits the compact electrical compartments in this class of equipment.

Small does not mean unimportant. A condenser fan motor with a failed capacitor stops, head pressure rises, and the system either trips on high pressure or continues to run in a condition that damages the compressor. On refrigeration equipment the consequence extends to product loss.

The values in this range are also frequently mismatched during repairs, because the difference between 5, 7.5, and 10 microfarad is easy to overlook and all three capacitors look alike. The fan motor nameplate is the authority, not the capacitor that happened to be fitted.

Confirm capacitance, voltage rating, case dimensions, and terminal arrangement before ordering. Discharge before handling and mount the replacement securely rather than leaving it loose in the compartment.
