DiversiTech Run Capacitor 440V 70MFD PRCF70A

The DiversiTech PRCF70A is a 70 microfarad, 440 volt round run capacitor for large single-phase compressor applications in air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.

Values at this level are associated with the largest single-phase compressors in common use, typically five ton residential and light commercial condensing units. Above this size, equipment is usually three-phase, and three-phase motors require no run capacitor at all because the supply itself provides the rotating field.

That distinction is worth keeping in mind during diagnosis. On a three-phase unit, there is no compressor run capacitor to check, and symptoms that would suggest a capacitor fault on single-phase equipment point instead to a phase loss, a contactor fault, or a supply imbalance.
