The DiversiTech PRCFD605A is a round dual run capacitor rated 60 plus 5 microfarad at 440 volts for compressor and condenser fan motor duty in air conditioning equipment.

The economic case for replacing a marginal capacitor rather than leaving it in service is not close. A run capacitor is one of the least expensive components in a condensing unit, while the compressor it protects is among the most expensive, and the labour to replace a capacitor during a scheduled maintenance visit is a fraction of the labour to attend an emergency call in peak season.

A capacitor measuring near the bottom of its tolerance band will not necessarily fail this month, but it is already imposing elevated current on the compressor windings, and it is more likely than not to fail during the hottest weather when the system runs longest and compartment temperatures are highest.
