DiversiTech Run Capacitor 440V 55MFD POCF55A

The DiversiTech POCF55A is a 55 microfarad, 440 volt oval run capacitor for compressor run duty in air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.

Oval case capacitors mount using a strap or clamp secured to the equipment cabinet or panel. Secure mounting is not cosmetic: a capacitor left loose in the electrical compartment will move under vibration, which stresses the terminal connections and can allow the case to contact energised components or the cabinet wall. Where the original mounting strap is corroded or the wrong size for the replacement case, fit a correct strap rather than improvising.

Case dimensions vary between manufacturers at the same capacitance and voltage rating, so the physical size of the replacement should be checked against the available space and the existing strap before ordering.

Fifty five microfarad is used for compressor run duty on larger residential and light commercial systems.

Terminals are typically quick-connect spade type, and connections must be fully seated. A partially engaged terminal presents high resistance, generates heat at the connection, and is a common cause of repeat capacitor failure that looks like a defective part.
