The DiversiTech POCF50A is a 50 microfarad, 440 volt oval run capacitor for single-phase compressor and motor applications in HVAC and refrigeration systems.

Heat is what determines how long a run capacitor lasts. Capacitor life is strongly temperature dependent, and a unit operating continuously at elevated ambient temperature will reach end of life in a fraction of the time it would achieve in cooler conditions. This is why capacitors in outdoor condensing units, particularly in hot climates and in units mounted where they receive direct sun or restricted airflow, fail far more frequently than the same components in indoor equipment.

Practical consequences follow from that. Mounting position within the electrical compartment matters, and a capacitor should not be relocated to a hotter position for installation convenience. Condenser coil cleanliness matters, because a dirty coil raises head pressure, compressor current, and the temperature of the whole compartment.
