The DiversiTech PRCFD4075A is a round dual run capacitor rated 40 plus 7.5 microfarad at 440 volts for combined compressor and fan motor duty in air conditioning equipment.

Run capacitors carry a maximum operating temperature rating and an expected life expressed in hours at that temperature. Those two figures together describe realistic service life, and the relationship between them is steep: operating well below the rated temperature multiplies expected life, while sustained operation at or above it shortens life dramatically.

This is why identical capacitors show such different field lifetimes. The same part number that runs for a decade in a shaded ground-mounted condensing unit in a temperate climate may last two or three seasons in a unit installed against a south-facing wall in a hot climate with a dirty condenser coil.
