DiversiTech Run Capacitor 440V 35MFD PRCF35A

The DiversiTech PRCF35A is a 35 microfarad, 440 volt round run capacitor for compressor and motor run duty in air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.

Capacitor testing belongs in every seasonal startup procedure. Run capacitors degrade gradually through the off season as well as in service, and a unit that operated acceptably at the end of the previous summer may have a capacitor sitting near the bottom of tolerance by the following spring. Measuring capacitance during a spring maintenance visit takes a few minutes per unit and converts an in-season emergency call into a scheduled repair.

The same visit should include condenser coil cleaning, condensate drain clearing, filter replacement, and a check of compressor and fan motor running current against nameplate. Elevated current with correct capacitance points elsewhere; elevated current with low capacitance identifies the capacitor as the cause.

Thirty five microfarad is one of the most commonly stocked compressor run values in residential service, typically appearing on two to three ton condensing units.

Confirm capacitance, voltage rating, case diameter and height, and terminal configuration before ordering. Discharge the capacitor before handling and secure the replacement with a correctly sized strap.
