DiversiTech Run Capacitor 440V 35 PRCFD3575A

The DiversiTech PRCFD3575A is a round dual run capacitor rated 35 plus 7.5 microfarad at 440 volts, supplied for compressor and condenser fan motor duty in air conditioning equipment.

On a no-cooling call where the outdoor unit is not running, the capacitor and the contactor are the two components that account for the majority of faults, and they are best checked in sequence. Confirm the contactor is pulling in and that line voltage is present on the load side; if the contactor is closed and voltage is present but the compressor only hums or the fan will not turn, the capacitor is the primary suspect.

The two components also interact. A compressor labouring on inadequate capacitance draws elevated current through the contactor, accelerating contact pitting, and pitted contacts in turn deliver reduced voltage to the motors. Where a capacitor has been badly degraded for some time, the contactor should be inspected rather than assumed sound.

The 35 microfarad section serves the compressor and the 7.5 microfarad section the condenser fan motor.

Confirm both capacitance values, the voltage rating, case dimensions, and terminal configuration before ordering. Discharge both sections before handling and verify the repair by measuring running current on both motors afterwards.
