DiversiTech Run Capacitor 440V 35 POCFD3510A

The DiversiTech POCFD3510A is a dual run capacitor rated 35 plus 10 microfarad at 440 volts for combined compressor and condenser fan duty in air conditioning equipment.

Wiring a dual run capacitor correctly starts with the common terminal. C is the shared connection that ties both capacitor sections back to the supply side of the contactor, and it is the terminal most often mis-landed during a hurried replacement. The HERM terminal goes to the compressor start winding, and FAN goes to the condenser fan motor.

Because a mis-wired dual capacitor can damage both motors within minutes of energising, the wiring should be recorded before the old capacitor is removed. A photograph taken with a phone before anything is disconnected is the most reliable method and takes seconds.

The 35 microfarad section in this unit serves the compressor and the 10 microfarad section serves the condenser fan motor.

Both sections should be tested when diagnosing. It is entirely possible for the fan section to fail while the compressor section remains within tolerance, producing a unit where the compressor runs and the condenser fan does not, which presents as a high head pressure fault.

Discharge both sections before handling and verify all specifications before ordering.
