DiversiTech Run Capacitor 440V 30MFD PRCF30A

The DiversiTech PRCF30A is a 30 microfarad, 440 volt round run capacitor for HVAC and refrigeration motor applications.

Run capacitors for HVAC service are manufactured to recognised safety standards and carry agency listings covering construction, dielectric strength, and behaviour under fault conditions. Listed capacitors incorporate a pressure interrupter mechanism designed to disconnect the element internally if internal pressure rises from a fault, which is what prevents case rupture. This is the reason unlisted or unknown-provenance capacitors are not an acceptable substitution in equipment installed under electrical code.

Capacitors intended for HVAC run duty are also rated for continuous operation, distinguishing them from start capacitors, which are electrolytic, are rated for only a few seconds of duty per start, and will fail rapidly if left permanently in circuit.

Thirty microfarad is used for compressor run duty on smaller residential systems and for larger blower motors.

Confirm capacitance, voltage rating, case dimensions, and terminal arrangement before ordering. Discharge the capacitor before handling, mount it securely, and verify that the replacement's listing and ratings meet or exceed those of the component being replaced.
