DiversiTech Run Capacitor 440V 30 PRCFD3075A

The DiversiTech PRCFD3075A is a round dual run capacitor rated 30 plus 7.5 microfarad at 440 volts for combined compressor and condenser fan motor duty.

Each section of a dual capacitor is measured separately. With the equipment isolated and both sections discharged, remove the leads and measure from HERM to C for the compressor section, then from FAN to C for the fan section. Measuring across HERM and FAN gives a meaningless reading, since that path runs through both elements in series.

Meter selection matters at these values. A multimeter with a dedicated capacitance range handles HVAC run capacitors comfortably, but some general-purpose meters have a capacitance range that tops out below the values used for compressor duty and will read over-range on a 30 microfarad section while measuring the 7.5 microfarad section correctly. Confirm the meter's upper limit before concluding that a compressor section has failed open.

Readings should fall within the marked tolerance, generally plus or minus six percent.

Confirm both values, the voltage rating, case dimensions, and terminal layout before ordering. Discharge each section through a resistor rather than shorting the terminals, and verify with a meter that no voltage remains before handling.
