DiversiTech Run Capacitor 440V 25 PRCFD2575A

The DiversiTech PRCFD2575A is a dual run capacitor rated 25 plus 7.5 microfarad at 440 volts in a round case, for combined compressor and condenser fan motor duty in air conditioning equipment.

The 25 microfarad section serves the compressor through the HERM terminal and the 7.5 microfarad section serves the condenser fan motor through the FAN terminal, with both sections sharing the C common terminal.

The difference between this unit and a 25 plus 5 dual capacitor is only in the fan section, and the two are easily confused on the van. The fan section value must match the condenser fan motor's nameplate requirement. Fitting 7.5 microfarad where the motor calls for 5 drives excess current through the fan motor's auxiliary winding; fitting 5 where the motor calls for 7.5 reduces its torque and raises main winding current. Neither error stops the unit immediately, which is exactly why both persist.

Check the fan motor nameplate rather than assuming the installed capacitor was correct, particularly on equipment where the fan motor has previously been replaced.

Confirm both values, voltage rating, case dimensions, and terminal arrangement before ordering, and discharge both sections before handling.
