DiversiTech Run Capacitor 440V 12. PRCF12.5A

The DiversiTech PRCF12.5A is a 12.5 microfarad, 440 volt round run capacitor for single-phase motors in HVAC and refrigeration equipment.

Round and oval run capacitors are electrically equivalent at the same capacitance and voltage rating; the difference is entirely mechanical. Round cases are the traditional form and are held by a circular strap or a band clamp, while oval cases fit more compactly into shallow electrical compartments. Substituting one shape for the other is acceptable provided the mounting can be made secure and the case does not contact energised components or restrict airflow.

In practice the choice is dictated by what the equipment's existing strap will accommodate. Where a round capacitor is being fitted in place of an oval, or the reverse, a correct strap should be obtained rather than securing the capacitor with tape or cable ties.

Twelve and a half microfarad is a common condenser fan motor value on smaller residential systems.

Confirm capacitance, voltage rating, case diameter and height, and terminal arrangement before ordering. Discharge the capacitor before handling, and ensure the replacement is mounted so its terminals face away from the panel and cannot contact the cabinet.
