DiversiTech Run Capacitor 440 45/5MFD Dual PRCFD455A

The DiversiTech PRCFD455A is a round dual run capacitor rated 45 plus 5 microfarad at 440 volts for compressor and condenser fan motor duty in air conditioning equipment.

Dual capacitors are supplied in both round and oval cases, and the two are electrically identical at matching capacitance and voltage. The choice is mechanical. Round cases mount with a circular band strap and are the traditional form in outdoor condensing units, while oval cases suit shallower electrical compartments and are common in packaged and light commercial equipment.

Substituting a round capacitor where an oval was fitted, or the reverse, is acceptable provided the replacement can be mounted securely, the terminals clear the panel and cabinet, and the case does not obstruct airflow or contact hot refrigerant lines. What is not acceptable is leaving the capacitor unsecured because the existing strap does not fit. A correct strap costs very little and prevents the terminal stress and case contact that follow from a capacitor moving under vibration.

The 45 microfarad section serves the compressor and the 5 microfarad section the condenser fan motor.

Confirm both values, voltage rating, case diameter and height, and terminal layout before ordering. Discharge both sections before handling.
