DiversiTech Nitrogen And CO2 Min MBK-6

The DiversiTech MBK-6 is a nitrogen and carbon dioxide mini kit for portable purging and service applications.

Portability is a genuine constraint in this trade rather than a convenience. A great deal of work happens on rooftops reached by ladder, in attics through a hatch, in crawl spaces, and in plant rooms at the end of long corridors. A full size cylinder and regulator cannot always be brought to the work.

A compact kit allows purging to be performed where the alternative is not purging at all, and that is the comparison that matters. A small purge is enormously better than none.

The limitation is capacity. A small cylinder holds a limited quantity, and sustained work will exhaust it. Planning the work so the available gas covers the joints to be made, and carrying spare cylinders, avoids running out partway through a brazing sequence.

Carbon dioxide is used in some service applications including drain line clearing, and a kit covering both gases serves more than one purpose.

The gases are not interchangeable for refrigeration purging, and nitrogen is what should be used for that purpose.

Compressed gas handling requirements apply regardless of cylinder size. Cylinders must be secured, kept away from heat, protected from damage, and not exposed to temperatures that would raise their pressure.

Confirm the kit's gas type, capacity, and connections suit the intended work.
