DiversiTech Capacitor 55/5 MFD 440/370V TRCFD555

The DiversiTech TRCFD555 is a round dual run capacitor rated 55 plus 5 microfarad at 440 and 370 volts for compressor and condenser fan motor applications.

Including capacitance measurement in a standard seasonal maintenance procedure changes the economics of capacitor failure. The measurement takes a few minutes with the equipment already isolated for coil cleaning, and it identifies units heading toward failure while there is still time to schedule the repair.

A practical policy is to record both sections at every visit and to replace any capacitor measuring below the lower edge of its tolerance band, regardless of whether the system is currently operating normally. On maintenance agreements in hot climates, some contractors extend this to replacing capacitors at a fixed interval on equipment where failures have historically clustered.

The value of the policy is not primarily in the parts saved. It is in the reduction of emergency calls during the weeks of the year when technician availability is scarcest and customers are least tolerant of a wait.

The 55 microfarad section serves the compressor and the 5 microfarad section serves the condenser fan motor.
