Description
The DiversiTech A89000 fan blade puller is a service tool for removing propeller fan blades and hubs that have seized onto a motor shaft.
Fan blades in outdoor and refrigeration equipment are subject to corrosion at the hub bore, and after several years in service the hub frequently bonds to the shaft. Attempting to drive it off with a hammer bends the blade, damages the motor bearings, and often destroys a blade that would otherwise have been reusable.
A puller applies axial force through the hub while reacting against the shaft end, which draws the hub off squarely without side load. That is what preserves both the blade and the motor.
The tool earns its cost quickly in condenser fan work, where the alternative is either replacing a serviceable blade because it was damaged during removal, or replacing a motor whose bearings were destroyed by hammering.
Applying penetrating oil to the hub bore and allowing time before pulling improves the result on a badly corroded assembly.
Confirm the jaw reach and capacity against the hub sizes typically encountered before ordering, and inspect the motor shaft for scoring after removal.
