DiversiTech 45/10 Capacitor TRCFD4510

The DiversiTech TRCFD4510 is a round dual run capacitor rated 45 plus 10 microfarad at 440 and 370 volts for compressor and condenser fan motor duty.

The fan section value follows the condenser fan motor's horsepower and winding design, not the tonnage of the equipment. As a rough guide, small fan motors in the one-twelfth to one-eighth horsepower range typically call for 3 to 5 microfarad, quarter horsepower motors commonly require 5 to 7.5, and third horsepower and larger motors frequently specify 10 microfarad or more. The motor nameplate gives the actual figure and should always be the reference.

That variation is why the fan section is the more common source of mismatch after a repair. Condenser fan motors are replaced far more often than compressors, and a universal replacement motor frequently specifies a different capacitance than the original. If the dual capacitor is not reviewed at the same time, the fan motor runs on the wrong value from the day it is fitted.

The 45 microfarad section serves the compressor.

Confirm both capacitance values, case dimensions, and terminal arrangement before ordering, and discharge both sections before handling.
