The Yellow Jacket 60165 is a deburring tool used to remove burrs from the inside and outside of cut tubing.

Deburring is a short step that is skipped often and matters on every joint.

The internal burr left by a tubing cutter projects into the bore. On refrigerant lines it disturbs flow and can break free to circulate through the system, where it lodges in a metering device or a screen. On any tubing it reduces the effective bore at exactly the point where a fitting already restricts flow.

The external burr, formed as the cutter wheel rolls the tube edge outward, is the one that causes assembly problems. It prevents the tube entering a fitting socket cleanly, damages O rings and sealing elements on push and compression fittings, and interferes with the seating of a flare.

On flaring work, a burred tube end produces a flare with a ragged edge that will not seal reliably.

The tool cuts the burr away rather than crushing it, and the work should be done with the tube pointing downward so that chips fall clear rather than into the bore.

Chips left inside the tube are worse than the burr they came from.
