The Santa Fe 4046180 is the Ultra205 high capacity dehumidifier, a ducted unit for whole house and large area moisture control in residential and light commercial buildings.

High capacity dehumidification addresses problems that portable units cannot. A basement or crawl space with persistent moisture intrusion, a whole house in a humid climate where the cooling system cannot dehumidify adequately during mild weather, or a large conditioned storage area all generate a latent load beyond what a room unit removes. Undersizing produces a machine that runs continuously and never reaches setpoint.

The mild weather problem is worth understanding specifically. An air conditioner dehumidifies as a by-product of cooling, so during periods when the sensible load is low but outdoor humidity is high, spring and autumn in much of the country, the cooling system barely runs and indoor humidity climbs unchecked. A dedicated dehumidifier operates independently of the cooling call and covers exactly that condition.

As a ducted unit, the Ultra205 can be installed in a mechanical room, basement, or crawl space and ducted to draw from and supply to the areas requiring treatment, or integrated with the air handler for whole house distribution.
