Refrigeration Technologies Viper Foam Coil Cleaner

The Refrigeration Technologies RT375A Viper is a foaming coil cleaner for evaporator and condenser coils.

Foaming cleaners address a problem specific to coil geometry. A coil is a dense array of fins with narrow passages between them, and soiling accumulates throughout that depth rather than only on the face.

A liquid sprayed onto a coil runs off the face before it has penetrated, so most of the chemical never contacts the deposits it was applied to remove.

A foaming formulation expands after application and works its way into the fin passages, carrying the active chemistry with it and holding it in contact with the soiling. The expansion also lifts loosened material toward the surface where rinsing can carry it away.

The visible foam action gives a useful indication of coverage, showing where the cleaner has reached and where it has not.

Rinsing is required after the dwell time the manufacturer specifies. Cleaner residue left on a coil attracts soiling and, depending on the chemistry, can corrode fins and tubing over time.

Rinsing technique determines whether the cleaning helps or harms. Moderate pressure directed straight through the coil, and from the inside outward where access allows, pushes debris back out. High pressure at an angle flattens fins and drives debris deeper.

Confirm suitability for the coil type, follow dilution and dwell instructions, and wear appropriate protection.
