The Pro1 IAQ T705 is a programmable thermostat for single stage heating and cooling systems.

Thermostat location has more effect on comfort than the thermostat's own accuracy, and it is worth attention whenever one is being replaced, since the opportunity to relocate rarely arises otherwise.

The thermostat should sense conditions representative of the occupied space. That means an interior wall rather than an exterior one, at normal occupied height, away from direct sunlight at any time of day, away from supply air discharge, away from lamps, appliances, and electronics that produce heat, and not in a draught from a door or stairwell.

It should also not be positioned where the wall cavity behind it communicates with an unconditioned space. Air moving through the cavity behind a thermostat, from an attic or a crawl space, will affect what it senses regardless of the room's condition, and sealing the cable penetration behind the thermostat is worthwhile.

A thermostat in a poor location produces persistent comfort complaints that no amount of adjustment resolves, and the cause is frequently overlooked because the thermostat itself is functioning correctly.
