Pro1 IAQ Wifi Programmable Thermostat T701I

The Pro1 IAQ T701I is a wifi enabled programmable thermostat for residential and light commercial systems.

Wifi thermostats occupy a middle position between conventional programmable models and full learning thermostats: they provide remote access and scheduling through an application while retaining a straightforward interface at the wall.

The remote access is the feature that changes how a system is used. Occupants adjust conditions before arriving home, correct a setting left wrong when leaving, and see the current state of the building from elsewhere. For rental and holiday properties, remote visibility of whether heating is running has genuine value in preventing frozen pipes and wasted energy.

The installation requirements are the same as for any connected thermostat. A common conductor is needed to provide continuous power, wifi coverage must be adequate at the thermostat location, and the occupant must be able to complete the network setup or have it done for them.

Where a common conductor is absent, either a wiring extender or a replacement cable run is required. Attempting to run a connected thermostat without one produces intermittent behaviour that is frustrating to diagnose.
