Description
The Garmin GPSMAP 79sc, part number 010-N2635-02, is a handheld marine GPS supplied in remanufactured condition and preloaded with BlueChart g3 coastal charts. It is intended for use as a portable navigation unit aboard small craft and as a backup to fixed helm electronics. The housing is rugged, floating and water-resistant to IPX6 at unit level, with a sunlight-readable high-resolution colour display behind scratch-resistant, fogproof glass. Memory capacity covers 10,000 waypoints, 250 routes and 300 activities. The receiver supports GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS and SBAS constellations, and a worldwide basemap is included. A three-axis tilt-compensated electronic compass reports heading while stationary and a barometric altimeter tracks pressure change. Garmin quotes battery life of up to 20 hours in GPS mode.
