Milwaukee MIL49-22-1168 Tools Jig Saw Blade Assortment

The Milwaukee MIL49-22-1168 is a jig saw blade assortment.

An assortment is the sensible first purchase for a jigsaw and the reason is worth stating, because a jigsaw is more blade-dependent than almost any other tool.

The same saw, with different blades, cuts wood, metal, plastic, laminate, and ceramic — and it does each of them badly with the wrong blade. Tooth count follows material and thickness: coarse teeth for wood and fine teeth for metal, with the rule that at least three teeth must be in the material at all times or the blade grabs and snaps. Tooth set and body width follow the cut: a narrow blade turns a tight radius, a wide one tracks straight.

There is also tooth direction, which is unique to jigsaws. Standard blades cut on the upstroke, which tears the top surface — fine on framing, ruinous on a laminate worktop that will be seen. Reverse-tooth blades cut on the downstroke and leave the top face clean.

An assortment covers those cases so the tool can actually do what it is capable of.

Note that the source data does not list the assortment's contents. Verify what is included before publishing, since that is the only thing a buyer needs to know.

Applications include carpentry, remodelling, and general trades.
