Mars Disconnect Switch 60 Amp Non-Fused With Surge

The Mars 83925 is a 60 amp non-fused pull-out disconnect switch incorporating surge protection, combining the code-required local disconnecting means for outdoor HVAC equipment with protection against voltage transients on the supply.

The disconnect function provides a visible, positive break in the circuit at the equipment. Electrical code requires a disconnecting means within sight of air conditioning and heat pump equipment so that a technician can de-energize the unit locally before servicing. A pull-out block that is physically removed gives unmistakable confirmation of isolation, which a remote breaker cannot.

The integrated surge protection addresses a separate and increasingly relevant problem. Modern HVAC equipment contains variable speed drives, ECM motor modules, communicating control boards, and inverter compressors, all of which are sensitive to voltage transients from lightning, utility switching, and large load changes on the service.
