Mars 60A 600 Fuse TRS60 M82142

The Mars M82142 is a 60 amp, 600 volt time delay fuse in the TRS series, designated TRS60, for motor branch circuit and feeder protection in commercial and industrial installations.

TRS identifies a Class RK5 dual element time delay fuse. The dual element design combines a fast-acting short circuit section with a thermal overload section, allowing the fuse to withstand motor starting inrush and transformer energization surge while clearing short circuits rapidly and sustained overloads dependably. This behaviour permits sizing close to the actual running load, which is where effective motor protection comes from.

The 600 volt rating covers 480 volt three phase commercial and industrial distribution as well as lower voltage systems. At 60 amps, this fuse commonly protects three phase compressor circuits, larger condensing units, rooftop packaged equipment, motor control centre feeds, and distribution subfeeds.

Class RK5 fuses share dimensions with Class H fuses of the same rating but offer substantially higher interrupting capacity and current limitation. Rejection-style holders accept Class R fuses while physically excluding lower-rated types, preventing an inadvertent safety downgrade during a service call. If the existing holder is a rejection type, only Class R fuses will fit, which is by design.

Applications include fused disconnects at commercial mechanical equipment, refrigeration rack panels, motor control assemblies, and general power distribution.

Verify class, voltage, amperage, dimensions, and delay characteristic against the original before installation. De-energize and lock out, confirm absence of voltage, and inspect clips or bolted terminals for heat damage and correct torque.
