Mars 150A 600 Fuse TRS150 M82149

The Mars M82149 is a 150 amp, 600 volt time delay fuse in the TRS series, designated TRS150, for feeder and large motor circuit protection in commercial and industrial electrical distribution.

At 150 amps this fuse operates at the feeder level, protecting distribution subpanels, motor control centre mains, large compressor circuits, commercial refrigeration racks, and substantial rooftop mechanical equipment. The 600 volt rating supports 480 volt three phase distribution typical of commercial and industrial buildings.

TRS designates a Class RK5 dual element time delay fuse. The dual element construction allows the fuse to survive the aggregate inrush of multiple motors starting or a large single motor across the line, while clearing short circuits quickly and sustained overloads reliably.

Interrupting rating is especially important at feeder locations. Available fault current is highest nearest the service transformer, and a fuse whose interrupting rating falls below the available fault current can rupture violently rather than safely clearing. Class RK5 devices offer substantially higher interrupting capacity than Class H fuses of the same physical size, which is why rejection-style holders exist to prevent downgrading during maintenance.

Applications include fused safety switches serving mechanical equipment, switchboard and panelboard feeder protection, motor control centre mains, and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning distribution.

Replacement must match class, amperage, voltage rating, interrupting rating, body dimensions, and time-current characteristic. De-energize and lock out the equipment, verify absence of voltage with an appropriately rated meter, and check bolted terminals or clips for heat damage and correct torque.
