Product Highlights
Description
The Krylon KRYSC0311000 is a Sprayon Dry Film PTFE Mold Release, 16 oz can with 12 oz net weight.
Mold release is the coating that lets a moulded part leave its mould, and the reason it needs to be dry film is the thing that separates a good release agent from a bad one.
Wet release agents work — and they transfer. Residue ends up on the part, which means the part cannot be painted, printed, bonded, or plated afterward without cleaning. In production, that contamination is invisible until the paint fisheyes or the adhesive fails, at which point a whole batch is scrap and nobody knows why.
A dry film PTFE release leaves a solid, non-transferring film on the mould. PTFE has extraordinarily low surface energy — the property that makes nothing stick to it — so the part releases cleanly and takes nothing with it.
PTFE also tolerates high temperatures, which matters because moulds run hot.
Note the packaging: a 16 oz can with 12 oz net weight. The difference is propellant, which is normal but worth stating since customers compare can size rather than contents.
Applications include plastic and rubber moulding, composites, die casting, and any process where parts must release cleanly and be finished afterward.
Follow the manufacturer's directions and SDS. Ventilate.
