The Jackson Safety JKS14731 is a ground clamp with a 1-5/8 inch jaw opening.

The ground clamp — properly the work clamp — completes the welding circuit, and it is the most neglected component in the whole setup. Welding current leaves the machine, crosses the arc, travels through the workpiece, and returns through this clamp. Everything happening at the arc depends on that return being solid.

When it is not, the symptoms get misdiagnosed. A poor work clamp connection adds resistance, and resistance in a welding circuit means voltage drop and heat. The welder sees an arc that will not strike, wanders, or flutters, and starts adjusting the machine — while the actual problem is a clamp sitting on mill scale with a corroded jaw.

The 1-5/8 inch jaw opening is the specification to match to your work. Jaw opening determines what the clamp can attach to: a clamp that will not open around the workpiece or the bench cannot be used, and a clamp clinging to the edge of something too thick for it will fall off.
