The INFICON 705-600-G1 is a 20 pack of replacement filters for INFICON TEK leak detectors.

Filters protect the sensing element from the contamination that shortens its life. Dust, oil mist, moisture, and debris drawn in through the probe would otherwise reach the sensor directly.

Because the filter sits in the sampling path, a blocked filter reduces the flow of sample air past the sensor, which reduces sensitivity. A detector that has become sluggish or insensitive frequently has a loaded filter rather than a failed sensor, and replacing the filter is both cheaper and faster than replacing the sensing element.

Filters load faster in dirty environments. Work in mechanical rooms, on rooftop equipment, in commercial kitchens, and around construction accumulates contamination quickly, and technicians working in such conditions should expect to change filters more often than the general recommendation.

Carrying spares is worthwhile, since a detector with a loaded filter found mid-job is otherwise unusable.

The general principle applies to any electronic leak detector: the instrument's reliability depends on consumables being maintained, and a negative result from a neglected detector proves nothing.
