Guardair GUA75LJ036AA Guard Air Long John W/36" Alum Ext & Alloy Nozzle

The Guardair GUA75LJ036AA is a Long John safety air gun with a 36 inch aluminium extension and alloy nozzle.

Three feet is the longest extension in the Long John range and it is a specialist reach rather than a general one. It exists for work that is genuinely out of arm's length: deep machine enclosures, pits, tanks and vessels, overhead beams and structure, ductwork, and conveyor tunnels — places where the alternative is a ladder, a confined space entry, or removing a guard.

Framed that way the tool is doing something more valuable than blowing off chips. A 36 inch wand that lets an operator clean an overhead surface from the floor, or reach into a vessel from outside it, avoids a whole procedure.

The trade is real and worth being honest about. At 36 inches the wand is harder to aim, more tiring to hold, and unwieldy in a confined space. Buy the shortest extension that reaches the work; this one is for when the shorter ones do not.

The safety designation is regulatory. OSHA restricts compressed air used for cleaning to below 30 psi dead-end pressure — air at line pressure driven through skin causes serious injection injury. A safety gun's relief ports bleed pressure when the tip is blocked; an ordinary blow gun cannot. Chip guarding and eye protection are still required.

Aluminium keeps the weight manageable at length; the alloy nozzle resists wear.
