Fantech Backdraft Damper 10" RSK10

The Fantech RSK10 is a 10 inch backdraft damper, supplied for installation in round duct on ventilation and exhaust systems.

Fantech dampers are commonly paired with inline ventilation fans, and the pairing matters. Inline fan installations frequently involve longer duct runs than a grille mounted fan, and a longer run holds a greater volume of air that will move backward through the duct when the fan stops unless a damper prevents it.

At 10 inch diameter the damper suits substantial ventilation duties: multiple bathroom exhaust manifolded to one fan, whole house ventilation, workshop and garage exhaust, and light commercial applications.

Damper selection should account for the fan's static pressure capability. Every damper imposes some resistance, and that resistance is part of the total system static the fan must overcome. On a system already close to the limit of the fan's curve, adding a damper without accounting for it will reduce delivered airflow below the design value.

The damper's function is to close the duct when the fan is off, preventing reverse airflow that would otherwise admit wind driven outdoor air, allow conditioned air to escape, permit insect and debris entry, and contribute to building depressurisation.

Install in the correct orientation so the blade closes under gravity, support the duct independently on both sides, and verify full opening under fan operation.

Applications include residential and light commercial exhaust and ventilation systems.
