Edison Fuse Time Delay 60 Amp ECNR60

The Edison ECNR60 is a 60 amp time delay fuse for motor branch circuits and mechanical equipment loads where startup inrush would open a fast-acting fuse.

Time delay construction allows the element to carry the brief surge current drawn when a compressor, motor, or transformer energizes, while still clearing sustained overloads and short circuits without hesitation. This is what permits the fuse to be sized near the actual running current rather than oversized to survive starting. Close sizing is the source of real protection: a motor drawing locked rotor current from a seized bearing, a failed run capacitor, a shorted winding, or a lost phase will be disconnected before the windings are destroyed.

At 60 amps, this rating commonly serves larger residential condensing units, light commercial packaged equipment, and three phase compressor circuits.

Applications include air conditioning and heat pump condensing units, refrigeration compressor circuits, condenser and evaporator fan motors, fused disconnect switches at outdoor mechanical equipment, transformer primary protection, and general equipment feeders.

Sizing is dictated by the equipment nameplate, which states both the minimum circuit ampacity governing conductor size and the maximum overcurrent protective device rating that must not be exceeded. Where a fuse opens repeatedly, the correct response is to diagnose the load, not to fit a larger fuse, which removes the protection the manufacturer specified.

Confirm the voltage rating, fuse class, and physical dimensions match the original fuse and the holder or disconnect before installation. De-energize and lock out the circuit and verify absence of voltage before servicing.
