ECCO Flexible Duct 4X36 Flex Gas Vent Connector

The ECCO 200493 is a 4 inch diameter by 36 inch flexible gas vent connector for connecting appliance draft hoods to Type B vent systems.

The 36 inch length suits installations where the appliance sits a moderate distance from the vent, or where the offset between the draft hood and the vent connection requires more length than a shorter connector provides.

Connector length is not unlimited, and it matters more than installers often assume. The vent sizing tables in the fuel gas code treat the connector as part of the vent system, with the lateral length and the number of offsets contributing to the total the vent must overcome. A long connector on a marginal vent produces inadequate draft, and inadequate draft means flue products spilling from the draft hood into the equipment space. Using the shortest connector that reaches, rather than the one on hand, is sound practice.

The connector must rise continuously from the draft hood toward the vent at the pitch required by code, and must be supported so that it maintains that pitch without sagging. A sag creates a low point where condensate pools and flue gases are obstructed.

Use only connectors listed for gas vent service; general purpose flexible duct is not acceptable.

Applications include residential and light commercial gas water heaters, furnaces, and boilers. Test for spillage at the draft hood after installation.
